Political action committees (PACs) are advocacy organizations - often nonprofits - that work to influence laws and regulations in some way. PACs work across the political spectrum, including on nonpartisan issues. They may advocate for everything from subsidies for particular industries to restrictions on gun ownership.

For a PAC, a website is critical to spreading the word about your work and getting more people involved. A well-designed PAC website should be visually appealing and include ways for people to get involved. Below, we have put together a list of 15 diverse PACS to inspire you as you develop your own PAC website.

At Inclind, our award-winning website designers and developers work with nonprofits and other advocacy organizations throughout the United States. We collaborate with our clients to design, redesign, and maintain their highly effective, visually appealing websites. Top Political Action Committee Website Designs

Political action committees—more commonly referred to as PACs—are organizations that advocate for a particular cause. This cause can be related to almost anything—a social issue, a political movement, or a particular industry. While PACs have received a lot of flak for their influence on American politics, they also play a key role in society.

PAC websites are a great way to promote your work, increase membership and donations, and communicate specific points and action items, like endorsements in elections.

If you are building - or redesigning - a PAC website, there are a few things to keep in mind. A great PAC website should:

  • Be optimized for mobile so that users can access it from any device;
  • Include calls to action (CTAs) to encourage visitors to take certain steps (like sign up for a newsletter);
  • Include search engine optimization (SEO) to rank high in search engine results;
  • Be accessible so that people with disabilities can engage with the content and
  • Include contact information.

Most PAC websites include information about their work, such as policy issues they are proposing or candidates they endorse. However, some PAC websites—particularly those that may face criticism for their work—choose to keep this information restricted to members. The decision to include—or not include—this information should be weighed carefully when designing and building a website.

National Association of Realtors

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has an associated political action committee—RPAC—that was one of the biggest donors to federal candidates during the 2022 elections. Its website is a great example of good design. It is part of the main NAR website, under advocacy. It allows visitors to easily find information about hot-button issues, like affordable housing. It also includes a link for users to get involved in its advocacy work.

National Beer Wholesalers Association

The National Beer Wholesalers’ Association—or NBWA—advocates for alcoholic beverage distributors. Its website is simple and clean, with readily accessible information about its policies, initiatives, and advocacy work across the top of the screen. It also has a prominent link to its associated PAC, NBWA PAC, where visitors can make a donation, schedule a trip to Congress, and more.

American Crystal Sugar

American Crystal Sugar is an agricultural co-op specifically for sugar beet producers. It takes a different approach to its political advocacy. The main website focuses on all of the good that the co-op does for its members and communities throughout the U.S. It then has a members-only section of the site—accessible through a portal—for its PAC. This is a potentially helpful feature when your political advocacy work might be more controversial or simply when you want to limit access to certain information to people invested in the cause.

American Asian Action Fund

The American Asian Action Fund is a PAC dedicated to issues affecting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in the U.S. Its website makes extensive use of color and graphics, with a prominent “welcome” in bold yellow and a friendly script. A large graphic shows its members protesting at the Capitol. A red donate button stands out on the page, making supporting their work easy.

Solar Energy Industries Association

The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) is an organization dedicated to promoting the adoption of solar energy in the United States. Its website features a video background overlaid with bold text about its mission. The organization's call to action is to get people to join—one way to build power as a PAC.

League of Conservation Voters

The League of Conservation Voters is a nonprofit that is dedicated to environmental issues. Its PAC expands this mission by endorsing candidates and making donations based on its principles. The League of Conservation Voters website is a good example of a PAC developing a voter guide, with a congressional scorecard and endorsements featured prominently. Making it easy for voters to find information about issues and who to vote for is a great way to achieve your goals as a PAC.

Color of Change

Color of Change is an organization devoted to advancing issues important to Black Americans. Its PAC, Voting While Black is a great example of how simple can be better. White text on a black background encourages visitors to sign up for their newsletter to get involved. As you scroll down the screen, the website lists its endorsements and the latest news.

American Bankers Association

The American Bankers Association is a political advocacy group that advances the interests of banks in the U.S. Its website is another example of how simple can be better. On top of a photo background, the site lists the organization’s mission. Two buttons can be clicked to log in or learn more about its work. Visitors can learn about the latest news and events as they scroll down the screen.

Everytown for Gun Safety

Everytown for Gun Safety advocates for common-sense gun reforms. Its website makes great use of color, with its brand colors of red, white, and blue featured prominently. The use of red is particularly effective, drawing visitors’ eyes towards donation buttons. The site also lists its policy positions prominently on the home screen.

American Health Care Association

The American Health Care Association (AHCA) works to advocate for the long-term care industry together with its partner, the National Center for Assisted Living. Its website focuses primarily on member engagement, with information about upcoming expos, a magazine, and more. There is also a section on advocacy work, with easy ways for members to get involved.

American Medical Association

The American Medical Association (AMA) is an organization that advocates for medical doctors throughout the United States. Its website offers resources for doctors as well as specific advocacy issues and action steps—such as a progress report on recent AMA policy wins. There is also a dedicated section for healthcare advocacy at both the federal and state levels.

American Beverage Association

The American Beverage Association represents the interests of nonalcoholic beverage manufacturers in the United States. Its website makes it easy to find exactly what you need to know about its advocacy work, with a menu across the top of the screen. The association also effectively uses statistics to encourage companies to join.

NORML

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws—more commonly referred to as NORML—has worked on efforts to legalize marijuana for decades. Its website offers information about current state laws and how people can take action. Unsurprisingly, it uses green as a feature color, including to highlight the donate button on its menu.

United Auto Workers

The United Auto Workers (UAW) is the union for workers in the automobile industry. In addition to its direct work on behalf of union members - such as negotiating collective bargaining agreements - it also gets involved in politics. Its website features striking graphics and bright red buttons that encourage visitors to get involved in its political work or learn more about various issues.

Human Rights Campaign

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) advocates for the rights of LGBTQ+ people in the United States. Its website doesn’t shy away from its political work, featuring its major issues and endorsements front and center on the home page. There is also a prominent donate button and links to learn more and get involved. It also features an option to click “in your area” and go directly to a page with information about local laws and ways to contact legislators.
